99-year-old World War II veteran planted trees together with Nail Magdeev

Today in Victory Park, near the Heroes' Alley, Mayor Nail Magdeev and World War II participant and Honorary Citizen of Naberezhnye Chelny Muftakh Nurtdinov planted 11 trees early in the morning. These are Manchurian walnuts, grown personally by Muftakh Ansapovich in his garden. The trees grew for five years to be planted today.

The veteran himself proposed this initiative, which was supported by the mayor. The seedlings were planted together with the management and staff of the Park of Culture and Recreation.

Muftakh Ansapovich Nurtdinov was born on 07/24/1926 in the village of Zirekle, Sharansky District, Republic of Bashkortostan. He finished 8 grades of secondary school. In November 1943, he was drafted to the front. Initially, he was assigned to a training regiment where recruits were trained as machine gunners, and in April 1944 he was sent to the front line. He fought in an infantry regiment. He participated in operations to liberate Romania, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Austria. He was awarded medals: "For Courage", "Patriotic War 2nd degree", "For the liberation of Germany", "For Labor Valor", "For the liberation of Budapest". Military rank: Senior Sergeant. After the war, he lived and studied in Zhytomyr for three months, and then went to serve in Germany. He returned to his home region in November 1950.

Together with his wife, he raised 3 children, has 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Recall that on February 19, 2025, at a ceremonial event dedicated to the opening of the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, Muftakh Nurtdinov was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of Naberezhnye Chelny".

Tomorrow, May 9, the veteran plans to participate in festive events, including the Victory Parade at the "Motherland" memorial complex.
