Today, a solemn event titled "Worthy of Eternal Memory" took place in the Avtozavodsky district on Borovetsky Boulevard. It was dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and featured the laying of wreaths at the Obelisk of Glory, erected in 2011 to honor the soldiers who left the village of Borovetskoye and gave their lives for the freedom and independence of our Motherland.

"During the Great Patriotic War, about 700,000 people were drafted into the active army from the Republic of Tatarstan. Almost 350,000 of them, every second one, gave their lives defending the freedom and independence of our Motherland. 185 natives of Tatarstan became Heroes of the Soviet Union, and three were awarded the title of full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory," - noted the Head of the Administration Ayrat Khusnullin in his speech.

Wreaths were laid by City Council deputy Vadim Matyushin, Head of the Avtozavodsky District Administration Ayrat Khusnullin, Chairman of the Avtozavodsky District Veterans Council Lyubov Khodakovskaya, Deputy Military Commissar for the Central and Avtozavodsky districts, Lieutenant Colonel Rustem Imamutdinov, Chairman of the Military Committee Board under the "Chamber of Commerce and Industry" Union, Lieutenant Colonel Anatoly Laput, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, participants of the special military operation, and officers of the "Combat Brotherhood" public organization.

The event was also attended by heads of educational institutions, public organizations, chairmen of territorial public self-governments (TOS), students, cadets, pupils, residents, and guests of the city of Naberezhnye Chelny. Those present at the ceremony honored the memory of the fallen soldiers with a minute of silence and laid flowers at the Obelisk of Glory.
