On February 20 and 21, the city hippodrome will host winter track car races for the Salavat Cup, the People's Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan, which will include the Championship of the Republic of Tatarstan in the disciplines of 1400, 1600 and Free.
"The riders represent three classes this year. It will be very interesting. The champion of Tatarstan will be determined. Participants come from Izhevsk, Cheboksary, Mari El, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Tolyatti and Bashkortostan," said the People's Artist of the Republic of TatarstanSalavat Fatkhutdinov.
These competitions have been held in Naberezhnye Chelny annually since 1998, and they always attract a large number of fans. The Salavat Cup is the only charity motorsport competition in Russia. The participants give most of the prize fund and entry fees to children who find themselves in a difficult life situation. This is how racing drivers do good deeds and support children.
According to Roman Nasredinov, head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports, the track is ready for training and the races themselves, and today the ice thickness ranges from 20 to 24 cm.: "Entry for people is free and unlimited. Free parking will be provided on the territory of the racetrack. We've expanded it twice this year because so many people are coming."
The arrivals will be held for 2 days. On February 20, organizational events, administrative checks will take place, free training sessions from 11.20, qualification races of the disciplines "1400", "1600" and "Free" will be held from 12:40, and the main races of the discipline "Free" from 15:30. The grand opening of the competition will take place on February 21 at 10:00 a.m. From 10:45 a.m. the main races of the disciplines "1400" and "1600" will be held.
