On February 19, 2021, the best volunteer directors, cameramen and screenwriters of videos about war children will be announced. The results of the All–Russian campaign "My Childhood is a War" will be summed up live on the YouTube channel at 12:00. The campaign is being implemented with the support of members of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, regional and municipal civic chambers. 4,000 volunteers from 70 regions of Russia, as well as from the Lugansk People's Republic and Argentina took part in the action.
During the Year of Memory and Glory, thousands of volunteer meetings with war children took place, activists visited museums and libraries, and worked in archives.
"The volunteer participants managed to create the largest archive of video memoirs of war children: 1,476 videos," said Leonid Shafirov, head of the project's organizing committee and a member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation. – Thanks to the volunteers, Russians and foreigners of present and future generations will be able to learn more about the silent feat of almost one and a half thousand war children, about the sufferings they endured, about what a war-hardened character is capable of. Words of gratitude to the heroes of the videos created by the volunteers. I understand how difficult it was for them to share their memories and return to the tragic events they had experienced. This is a great contribution to the education of young people and to the preservation of peace. I am convinced that video memoirs of war children will be studied, systematized, correlated with historical events and used in the work of civil society activists, educational institutions, culture, youth policy, and public organizations.I sincerely consider all those who have contributed to the preservation of historical memory to be the winners of the campaign."
During the live broadcast, there will also beOlympiad dedicated to the fate of war children and literary heroes, children of war;online voting for the best competitive works, on the basis of which three authors of prize-winning videos will be determined as part of a separate audience choice contest; a prize draw among active viewers of the broadcast who left comments rather than supported the broadcast and the Campaign.
