Today In the third and final reading, the State Duma adopted amendments to the law on education in terms of regulating the activities of educational organizations that implement educational programs for additional pre-professional, secondary vocational, and higher education in the field of arts.
Deputy Alfiya Kogogina, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship, commented on the novel:
"Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that culture in Russia is traditionally supported at the state level: "Classical music, ballet, and theatrical art are our national heritage." And in continuation of this line of cultural development, I consider it relevant and fair to take the initiative to change the status of art schools from municipal to regional, as well as to change the principles of selection for creative schools. The law is aimed at increasing the quality of pre-professional training for our talented children and youth."
According to the adopted law, children's art schools will be divided by type of training. It can be a music, choir, art, choreography, theater, circus school or a school of artistic crafts. In addition, it is planned to introduce a differentiated assessment of the results of internal entrance tests in order to accept the most gifted applicants for secondary vocational education programs in the field of arts. The Ministry of Culture will be authorized to set admission targets for subordinate universities.
