The traditional Kama Ski Marathon will take place in Naberezhnye Chelny on February 23. This year it will be held for the 20th time. Athletes will be offered a choice of distances.: 10, 15, 20, 30, 50 km. The prize fund of the competition is 1 million rubles.
"The distances are different. The prize pool is unprecedented, which has never been seen before at the Kama Ski Marathon. We invite everyone to compete," said Leila Vopshina, Managing Director of the Ski Racing Federation of Naberezhnye Chelny. - At the moment, 75 active participants are those who participate in the absolute categories: 15, 20, 30 and 50 km. We register children absolutely free of charge. These are sports schools in districts and cities, and in neighboring republics. There are about 200 registered children."
Renowned Soviet and Russian athletes are expected to attend the competition. Among them is a four-time Olympic champion in cross-country skiing, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR.Nikolay Zimyatov, three-time medalist of the Winter Olympic Games, Honored Master of Sports of the USSRAlexander Zavyalov, World, European, Soviet and Russian Champion in cross-country skiingAnatoly Ivanov.

"I would really like the weather to improve, it would be a little warmer. In principle, according to the forecast, we are not canceling anything. The weather will be comfortable. According to the rules of the competition, 20 degrees is acceptable weather for skiers," she notedLeila Vopshina.
"We are monitoring the temperature regime, which will be on the 23rd. We hope that on February 23rd the temperature will be above 20 degrees. The deadline for making a decision on the event is Sunday," added Roman Nasredinov, Head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports.
