Dr. Hussein Husameldine Sulaiman has been working at the Naberezhnye Chelny Polyclinic No. 7 since October 2020. He talks about his family with special trepidation. Mom and dad have seven children: 6 brothers and 1 sister, all of them are practicing doctors. He and his three brothers graduated from Perm Medical University (then it was an academy), the younger ones studied medicine in the Republic of Sudan.
After graduating from the Academy in 2003, Hussein Sulaiman completed his residency in thoracic surgery. In 2009, he defended his dissertation on suppurative lung diseases and became a candidate of medical Sciences. The author of a unique method of right-sided pulmonectomy surgery. After defending his PhD thesis, he returned to his homeland. He worked as a thoracic surgeon in Sudan for 10 years.
He visited Russia every year, and his hometown was Perm and Izhevsk. During his trips, he got acquainted with the Republic of Tatarstan and the city of Naberezhnye Chelny, where his friend and his family live.
"On March 15, 2020, I came to the congress of surgeons in Russia, and on March 16, the border was already closed due to COVID-19," says the doctor. - So I stayed here for a while, and eventually decided to settle in Tatarstan. Over time, he moved his family to Russia: his wife and little daughter. But while they are in Perm, we need to resolve some issues related to the move. I dream of being with them as soon as possible."
"I also drew attention to Russia's success in fighting the pandemic in comparison with other world capitals. Because I saw the beginning in Sudan, Jordan, and other countries. Besides, I constantly read authoritative sources in Russian, English, and Arabic. These are reports from WHO and the Associations of Pulmonologists and Virologists from different countries. I myself am a member of several associations. I have been dealing with suppurative lung diseases for more than 17 years. Author of more than 30 scientific publications. And I can say with confidence that vaccination is the most effective way to protect yourself."
During the pandemic, there was a shortage of staff in polyclinics, because many doctors left to work in infectious diseases hospitals. Doctors and nurses consciously chose to work in difficult conditions. Huseyin Husameldin received a certificate in general surgery and got a job at polyclinic No. 7. The doctor immediately noted that in such a difficult time, a team of professionals, led by their supervisor, stand guard over the most valuable thing in a person's life – his health. This influenced the decision on employment in the clinic.
"I have more than 400 visits per month, plus surgeries. The patients come in different ways. It would seem that contact is inevitable. But, due to the observance of preventive measures, the analysis for antibodies to coronavirus showed: there are no antibodies."
The first batch of COVID-19 vaccine for the city was delivered to polyclinic No. 7. In December, the doctor received the first component. He does not notice any undesirable reactions. He underwent a revaccination in January. It has already been 2 months, that is, a full-fledged immunity has been formed. The doctor has the results of an analysis for antibodies to COVID-19 with positive immunoglobulin G. Now there are enough antibodies not to get sick.
"The decision to get vaccinated was influenced, firstly, by the scientific approach: the vaccine is the only way to protect yourself from coronavirus. Secondly, an antibody test: there are no antibodies, so you need to be vaccinated. Thirdly, conscience. As a doctor, I couldn't allow other people to get sick because of me if I became a carrier of the virus. Now all my family and friends, friends and colleagues in different parts of the world have followed my example. Last week, my parents, who live in Saudi Arabia and are 70 years old, received the first component of the vaccine," he said.
