The Museum of Local Lore hosted a solemn event in honor of the 80th anniversary of Bilal Kaneev, a well-known local historian, senior researcher for the protection of monuments at the Museum of the History of the city, and executive editor of the Encyclopedia of Naberezhnye Chelny.

Bilal Kaneev has been actively involved in the work of the Nizhny Kama local history movement since its inception (1987), and has been a member of the board since 1993. During his many years of research, he has prepared and published more than 160 articles in various publications in Russia and Tatarstan. Since 1997, he has been actively cooperating with the Institute of the Tatar Encyclopedia of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan.
He is actively involved in the protection of cultural heritage and the acquisition of museum funds as a senior researcher on monument protection. For more than three years, Bilal Kaneev has been working on creating an encyclopedia of the city. He has written over 520 articles out of 1059 in all sections.
