Today, the State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill strengthening responsibility for the rehabilitation of Nazism, as well as amendments establishing administrative responsibility for the dissemination of information denying the facts established by the verdict of the International Military Tribunal.
Alfiya Kogogina, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship, member of the UNITED RUSSIA faction, commented: "The initiatives adopted by the State Duma today have been included by our faction in the list of draft laws subject to priority consideration. We must defend the historical truth and we will honor and protect the memory of the heroic deeds of the heroes to whom all current generations owe their lives."
Justifying Nazism on the Internet can lead to up to five years in prison. It is also proposed to introduce administrative liability for legal entities for publicly denying the decisions of the Nuremberg Tribunal and justifying Nazi crimes – fines will range from one and a half to three million rubles with possible confiscation of the subject of the administrative offense.
